| FREYJA'S "ANCIENT ARTIFACTS" CLASS |
ANCIENT ARTIFACTS
Ancient Greece, Egypt, cave paintings,Roman relics. Mysterious earth colours and natural textures.
Don’t panic, not all is dark and gloomy: think of Medieval stained glass and old paintings tempered by time and atmosphere.
Creating the ‘feel’ of times past gives us an excuse to use extra layers of texture, colour and strong effects to re-create our ancestor’s way of life, all great techniques for creative crafting that can be easily adapted for unique modern designs as well as ancient.
This class will not just concentrate on one period of history or location but will make a range of backgrounds and additions using standard craft materials plus a few surprising re-cycled bits and pieces to create aged effects as a basis for a wide range of themes.
Perfecton is not called for, just a free spirit and ‘Getting down and dirty’ with an exciting mixture of art supplies and a little junk.
Plenty of samples will provide inspiraton and there will be an informative worksheet to take home.
Opional - Bring any ‘bits’ you think might be useful.
Extras - ( Using Faux Metal Modern and ATC samples)
1.Examples of a ‘modern’ card using the faux metal technique.
2.Four ATC’s using transparency over lays and scraps of stamping with left over pieces of textured backgrounds.

Freyja says:
Pre notice of Transparency Blog Class
I am often asked about the transparencies which I use in class. Definitely an ‘acetate freak’ because of my love of the ‘ see through’ effect and mysterious blend of colours and textures that are so easy to achieve I am happy to share my discoveries.
Blade Rubber Class time only allows only a brief explanation and no time for details.
To provide that info and explain in more detail the ways of making and getting your hands on lovely transparencies I am preparing a special class that should be on this blog by the end of September. Just in time to try out a few ideas for Christmas – and beyond of course.
Samples will be shown for ideas and inspiration.
Of course you all have computers – a printer and if possible a scanner also needed - so part of the work will involve using them to generate your own work. However there will be plenty of simple stuff as well as slightly more advanced. If I can do it – anyone can!
A chance to learn something new to advance your art work and put you in control; a great feeling.
Well, hats off to Freyja I say! Don't know about you....I can't wait to see this new tutorial.
