RIBBON STORAGE IDEA

Copyright Funky Junky
I saw this on Spunky Junky blog - and like all good ideas, the simplest is the best! This was definitely a 'Duh!' moment, as in 'Why didn't I think of that myself?'

Grab yourself a couple of dowels (sticks from a garden centre? old [clean] chopsticks? unwanted knitting needles?) and go make your own.

NOW all we need is some way of stacking the containers elegantly so they look good in our crafting spaces, and also so they don't fall over....

CLASS THIS SATURDAY - USING TISSUE FOR CREATIVE CRAFTING

I adore working with tissue - you can achieve some incredibly beautiful effects in an instant! Best of all, it's got texture, it's transparent - you just have to touch it! Yet so many people are nervous of using it to best advantage - so why not book Freyja's masterclass for Saturday (just a couple of places left) and amaze yourself!

June 25th - Using Tissue for Creative Crafting
Class Teacher - Freyja

There is a wide choice of inexpensive table napkins and craft tissue available in every style and colour imaginable from cute to high art. Have you ever longed to capture and incorporate a particularly stunning design when card making? Well you can, and also cover containers and other objects.

As well as napkins, we have the common tissue paper with a host of exciting uses, rarely taught or written about in detail. The qualities of this fragile paper - scrunch, twist, layer, dye, stamp etc. allow the crafter many techniques not possible with thicker paper.

The above are easily mastered with exciting and surprising results, and there is the advantage of not needing lots of expensive supplies to start.

The class will include:
  •     Working with napkins - innovative designs, attaching to surfaces, over-stamping etc.
  •     Several techniques using tissue papers
  •     Ideas for using your samples.
  •     A worksheet to take home
  •     Lots of samples for inspiration

You don't need to be 'artistic' to try this class - surprise yourself!

CATCHING UP - NEW PIX

Pic copyright Craft Stamper Magazine, artwork copyright Chris McMillan

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for the lack of posts - my poor old computer has been in the repair shop (the hard disc totally crashed) and although it's up and running again, it's more of a limp than a sprint. It took over 5 tries to get my super new scanner/photocopier/printer to 'take' - hence I haven't been able to post this gorgeous artwork any earlier.

Here are the instructions (also on  Web Extra).
Cut white card to 5 ½” x 3 ½” (standard UK postcard size). Apply random patches of colour with Cut-n-Dry Foam using Aquatic Splash, Sea Breeze and Persimmon VersaMagic Inks. Keep the area where the face will be pale (it can be helpful to stamp the image on acetate first – this can be periodically positioned over the card as you build up the colour. Using Versafine Onyx Black Ink, stamp the border from Artemio clear stamp set (10001028), Da Vinci Woman (Blade Rubber unmounted plate BRPL009), Morning Mail (Blade Rubber BR065C) and Carte Postale from the Stampington Carte Postale clear stamp set (J6226). Highlight the headband using a Cut-n-Dry Nib to apply the colour.
